Philips just announced its Fidelio SoundSphere speakers that support WiFi music streaming over Apple’s new media sharing “standard” from your PC or Mac iTunes library or from any iOS device.
Unfortunately, not much else is known about the speaker specs, making it hard to justify the exorbitant cost of these Philips speakers.
However, we do know two critical items–pricing and availability. They’ll start hitting European markets first this May, and we can tell that much because they’ve been priced in Euros–799 of them, to be more specific. It’s likely that they’ll expand outward from there; the things look entirely too cool and have too much going for them (even what little we know so far!) to not be interesting to a wider market.
The Philips Fidelio SoundSphere will be available from May onwards and will set you back around $1,110 (799 EUR).
